A Sure Foundation
So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground; And should sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring and grow up, he knoweth not how. For the earth bringeth forth fruit of herself; first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear. But when the fruit is brought forth, immediately he putteth in the sickle, because the harvest is come. The seed is the Word of God (Mark 4:14), and the ground is our hearts (Mark 4:15). Our hearts were created by God to bring forth fruit when His Word is planted in them. Just as a seed has to remain in the ground over time to germinate, the Word of God has to abide in us if it’s going to bring forth fruit.
If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
First the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear.
