The length of time we keep your personal data for greatly depends on the reason we collected it in the first place. We will only retain if for the length of time necessary to achieve that purpose, unless the law requires us to retain it for longer.

Information on applicants is held whilst the application is considered and for a short period after.  Information on staff and volunteers is generally held for the duration of your employment or volunteering.  Some other information, such as payment records, we will retain for 7 years (because we are required to do so by law).

There are several organisations and individuals that we are required to share your information with for various reasons. They are:

  • Board members: At times, some of your personal information will need to be passed on to members of the board. Please note, that some of the board members are located outside of the European Economic Area (EEA).
  • Other AWM/Charis locations:  Whilst the vast majority of your personal information will never be shared with any other part of Andrew Wommack Ministries, some information, including as an example your name, will be passed on to other AWM offices or Charis UK campuses around the world, including some that are not located in the EEA. Where this is necessary, we have safeguards in place in the forms of an IDTA (International Data Transfer Agreement) and data sharing agreements to ensure the secure and continued fair processing of your personal data.
  • HMRC:  For tax purposes, some of your details need to be shared with HMRC.
  • Payroll company and pension provider:  We currently use an external Payroll company to process payment of your salary and set up and manage the workplace pension.
  • Insurance companies:  In the interest of your safety, and that of AWME, we occasionally have to share some of your personal details with our insurance companies.
  • Financial auditors:  Once a year we carry out a financial audit, and as part of that audit, some of your personal information may need to be made available to the auditing company.
  • Solicitors:  Should the situation arise, some of your personal information may need to be passed on to a solicitor.  If this relates to a legal claim, we now rely on the ‘recognised legitimate interest’ legal basis for sharing this data.
  • Travel companies:  We may also need to share your personal information, including passport and work visa details, with any organisations that we make travel or accommodation arrangements with on your behalf.
  • Training companies:  If AWME/Charis UK is registering your attendance on a training course, this may necessitate us passing on some of your personal data.
  • Suppliers/Contractors:  If you are to be the main contact for a supplier, or on a list of possible contacts, such as in the case of the security alarm system needing to contact someone out of hours because the alarm has been triggered, some of your personal information will need to be provided to the relevant supplier.

In addition, we may be required to share your information with emergency services, such as health professionals, should you require emergency care, or with the legal authorities should this become necessary as part of a criminal investigation.  The new legal basis for this is ‘Recognised legitimate Interest’.

Some of the buildings we occupy as Charis UK are rented from other organisations. Whilst we do not share your personal data with these organisations, they may operate CCTV systems which will capture your images. The handling of these images is outside of our control.

In order to support AWME and Charis UK operations including management of staff and volunteers, we may transfer or allow personal data to be accessed by other AWM organisations, including AWM Inc in America, either at your request, or where we are operating shared services or common functionality to ensure an efficient operation.  Where this happens, we have put in place appropriate safeguards in the forms of an IDTA (International Data Transfer Agreement) and data sharing agreements to ensure the secure and continued fair processing of your personal data.

Your data subject rights exist to give you as data subjects greater control over your personal data, to facilitate better understand, challenge and, if appropriate, restrict how organisations process your personal information.   They support the principles of transparency, accountability and fairness and help protect individuals’ fundamental rights and freedoms.  To this end, AWME & Charis UK is committed to administer them in a compliant manner.

Your Right to Be Informed:

This is mainly fulfilled through our privacy notice accessible at: https://awme.net/privacy-policy/.

Your Right to Access:

It is your right to know if we process your personal data and to obtain a copy of that data, to understand how we process it and the bases for the processing.

Should you wish to exercise this right it is initiated by making a data subject access request.  You can do this by emailing us at [email protected], by contacting us via our web form at https://awme.net/contact-us/,  or by phoning our helpline service department.

Please be aware that we may need to ask for some additional information to make sure the request is valid.   If this is necessary, our data protection manager will contact you using the contact you have provided.

Our obligation is to provide your data to you following a ‘reasonable and proportionate’ search.

Your right to rectification:

This is your right to request that we correct any personal data which is incorrect or incomplete. Please make this request using the same methods as listed in the previous section.

The right to erasure (sometimes referred to as the right to be forgotten):

This is the right to have your personal data deleted from our systems.  Though this is not an absolute right, if there are other conditions which necessitate your data being retained for a specified period, for example: financial records are required to be kept for seven years, you may wish to exercise this right if we no longer need your personal data for the purpose it was collected for, if you wish to withdraw consent previously given, if we are relying on legitimate interests or if you object to the processing and our grounds for doing are considered not sufficient.

If you make a request for erasure and exceptions apply, you will be informed of this.  To exercise this right please communicate with us as detailed above.

Your right to restrict processing:

This is the right to request we pause processing of your data for a limited time, a useful right to exercise if we need to correct or complete data which needs rectification.  This request can be initiated as above.

Your right to object:

This is the right which allows you to object and request we cease the processing in question.  It may be that you consider we are processing your data inappropriately, without the correct legal basis, or that the data being processed is not necessary for the purposes for which it is being processed.

This right is an absolute one in relation to marketing as a processing activity and would bring about an immediate cessation of that use of your data.  Please send your request for this objection to [email protected].

In other circumstances, where this right is not an absolute one, a review of processing activities would be initiated to evaluate the rationale for the processing to determine if there is a compelling reason for the processing which overrides the interests, rights and freedoms of the data subject, if the processing is necessary for legal claims, for example, or if the objection should be upheld.

The data subject would then be notified of the outcome of the assessment.

For general communications permissions information please see our core privacy notice at https://awme.net/privacy-policy/.

Charity Marketing Communications – a new option

Where permitted under PECR, as amended in 2025 by the Data (Use & Access) Act, we may contact individuals by email or other electronic means about the charitable purposes of the ministry when the conditions specified in the Act are met.  This applies to new contacts only and will not be used retrospectively. The contacts to whom this approach applies will always be given a clear opportunity to opt out of receiving such communications, and we will respect their preferences at any time.

For any queries in this regard, please contact the ministry by email using the details below.
